Article Writing Basics

If you’re thinking about getting into article writing for profit, there are a few basic things that you are going to need to know.

While this article is in no way a complete tutorial on how to write an effective article, something that would take a book to accomplish, it should get you off on the right foot should you decide that writing articles on the Internet is something that you want to pursue.

The first step in writing an article is to decide what it is that you want to write on. Because there are so many topics in the world, the list that you have to choose from is almost limitless. So it is best to start with writing about things that you either know about or have some familiarity with. This will make the process a lot easier.

The next step, after you have chosen a topic, is to pick the slant you want to use, which will ultimately lead to choosing a title. For example. Let’s say you want to write about music and the slant you choose is “History Of Rock & Roll”. This is obviously going to take a lot of research, unless you have a built in encyclopedia inside your head. But at least you have a starting point and a title.

The next step in writing articles is to research your topic thoroughly. This doesn’t mean to go and read one article and paraphrase it. That is technically plagiarism and will end up getting you into a ton of hot water.

You’re going to need to research at least three resources online and understand what you’ve just read. You then have to take the information and put it in your OWN words. At first, this is a little on the tricky side, but eventually it does get easier. Your best bet is to start off with writing articles about subjects that you know something about. That will make the task a little easier.

The next step in article writing, after you have done your research, is to take all the information that you’ve compiled and organize it into sections or paragraphs. You want to have an introduction followed by what I call the meat of the article and then a conclusion or summary.

is the standard form by which all articles should follow. It makes them easier to write, easier to read and more effective for getting people to your site. The meat section of the article is usually three or four paragraphs, depending on how many points you bring up in the article. Each point should have its own paragraph.

After you have organized everything and written your four or five paragraphs, the final step is to proofread everything. Don’t assume that your first draft is going to be perfect. It won’t be. You may need to do one or two revisions before you get it just right. Of course you need to check for spelling and grammar mistakes as well.

These are just the basics, but they should more than get you on your way to writing articles that you’ll be able to submit for profit.

Ebook Marketing And The Hot Niche

Let’s face it, unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last umpteen years, you have certainly heard about ebooks. They are all over the Internet. The beauty of them is that you don’t have to wait for delivery to your postal box.

You can instantly download them and dive right in. This is why many people desire to get into ebook marketing, either with their own or with an established one. The problem is, many people don’t know where to begin. There are so many ebooks out there. How do you choose? Well, this is where niche marketing comes in. This article will show you how to take just about any niche and target it with an ebook that is either yours or somebody else’s.

This process can actually be done in any order, unless you want to write your own book. Then you better do the research on the niche first before you waste time putting together an ebook that you may never have any chance of selling. But assuming that you’d rather just find an established ebook and market it, you can do this in any order.

One step in the process is to find an ebook. Because there are so many out there, this can be a daunting task should you attempt to go through every ebook ever made. So to narrow things down a bit, you’re best to look for ebooks on subjects that you’re at least a little familiar with. This way you won’t have as much to wade through.

So, let’s for argument sake say you are interested in health. Probably your best bet is to go to the Clickbank marketplace and look for ebooks in their category of Health and Fitness. When you find a book that interests you, go to the web page and view the source code of the page, making note of all the keywords.

The other step in the process is to go and research the niche using these keywords. Now, if you already had some keywords in mind, you didn’t have to go find the book first. That’s why I said this could be done in any order. What you need to do next is go to a keyword tool, plug in these keywords and see how many monthly searches there are for them.

This will give you an idea of how many people are looking for information on this particular subject, or niche. The final part of this step is to go to the Google search engine and see how many competing sites there are for this product. If you find there isn’t a lot of competition, you might want to consider promoting this book. If there is a lot of competition, you might want to think twice about it.

If what I have outlined above seems simple, in theory, it is. That’s really all there is to finding a niche for a particular book that you want to promote. The hard part is doing the actual promoting, of which there are a variety of ways. Unfortunately, they are beyond the scope of this article. The key is finding that hot niche, one where there are enough monthly searches and little competition. That’s how you corner a niche market.

Ebook marketing and the hot niche. Everybody is doing it because it’s profitable.

And I should know.

The Power Of Niche Marketing

Lately there has been a lot of discussion about whether niche is pronounced “nitch” or “neesh”. Well, regardless of how it’s pronounced, niche marketing is one of the most powerful forms of marketing on the Internet.

In this article, I’m going to briefly describe what niche marketing is and how you can take advantage of it. Hopefully, after reading this, you’ll be ready to jump into your first “nitch” or “neesh” or whatever it is you want to call it.

Niche marketing is the concept of getting involved in one specific area of interest and capitalizing on it by any means possible, and I do mean ANY means. The farther you dive into a niche, the less competition you’ll ultimately have and the more money you will make. The hard part is finding that corner of the world that few people have populated.

The basic formula I use for getting into a niche is actually very simple, but also very effective. What I do is take out my favorite keyword tool (they’re all different so take your pick of one and use it exclusively) and start plugging in keywords, going from the general to the very specific. To show you what I am talking about, I will give you an example using this very article.

I decided that I wanted to write an article on niche marketing. So I went to my keyword tool and typed in “niche marketing” where I came up with a long string of related keywords. The main one, niche marketing itself, showed 1191 searches for the month of April as I did my search.

Now, that’s a lot of searches and it would appear that this niche would be a good one to tackle. But, the next part of the process, going to Google’s search engine, showed me that there were 922,000 sites competing for that keyword. Ouch! That’s a boat load of sites to have to jump over in the search engine rankings.

So what I did next was look down the list and I saw a keyword phrase that for some reason struck my fancy. It was “niche marketing article” which only showed 38 searches for the month. Now, I know that’s not a lot of sites, but, in going back to Google, I found that plugging in that keyword phrase gave me only 504 competing sites.

Wow! We could really have a corner on this market, even if it’s a small one. How? Well, we could put up a site that sells articles on niche marketing. And that’s off the top of my head. Maybe we could have an ebook on the site for sale. The things you can do with a niche are virtually limitless once you’ve uncovered a market.

Now, obviously there is more to it than this. You have to do your market research to see if there is any demand for a product or service in that particular niche. Maybe the people looking for niche marketing articles only want to read them and have no interest in buying them. But, as a writer for over 30 years, I know there is a market for writing articles. So there is a good chance that those few searches may uncover a very profitable niche with very little effort.

The power of niche marketing is real. All you have to do is find your “nitch” or “neesh”.

Or whatever you want to call it.
